Neurodivergent-affirming therapy and mentoring.

My approach to work, whether through art psychotherapy, verbal therapy, or supportive practices, is tailored to the unique needs of each individual. I prioritise a person-centred philosophy, adapting my support to align with how each person engages in the process.

Instead of providing generic or one-size-fits-all solutions, I focus on creating a space for individuals to reflect and explore their ideas. My goal is to help them identify solutions that resonate with their specific challenges and interests.

Ultimately, my work empowers individuals to discover the dignity in their solutions, enabling them to navigate the difficulties and reduce the barriers they face in their lives.

What to expect.

The most important aspect of our sessions is that you feel relaxed and supported.

Our work typically begins with a conversational approach, allowing us to discuss your history and the reasons that bring you to therapy. From there, the session may naturally take shape in a direction that feels right for you. I strive to work sensitively and without prejudice, welcoming individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Drawing from a Jungian perspective, I encourage the use of various tools, including art materials, to explore and express your thoughts and feelings. The ethics of this practice centre around helping you articulate what matters to you, using your own voice in whatever way resonates with you.

Clients come to me for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Mentoring or Coaching: Some seek guidance in their professional life, often supported by Access to Work.

  • Arts Mentoring: Others may require assistance specific to their artistic practice or studies.

  • Therapy: For those who find talking therapy challenging or traumatic, art psychotherapy can offer a gentler path to exploration.

My Therapy Services

  • Art Psychotherapy

Art Psychotherapy combines conversational exploration with creative expression, offering a unique therapeutic experience. In our sessions, I provide a safe, confidential environment for you to openly discuss your concerns while engaging in various art forms such as painting, drawing, collage, clay work, writing, poetry, photography, and music including digital art.

Through these creative activities, you can explore your thoughts and feelings in ways that words alone may not convey. Previous art experience is not required; the focus is on the creative process rather than the final product. Sometimes, it's challenging to know what to explore—often, the images can speak for us.

My approach is influenced by Jungian principles, emphasising creativity, symbols, rituals, and metaphors for self-expression. From a neurodivergent perspective, I welcome autistic stimming and other self-expressive forms. Clients may also find value in eco-art, journeying, ritual, journeying, breath-work, mandalas, and exploring otherworldly themes.

  • Expressive Psychotherapy

My therapy sessions are person-centered and designed to create an inviting and accepting space (trans-feminist, neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ affirming for neurodivergent individuals facing mental health challenges and daily life hurdles. Each session may incorporate Jungian elements, visual guides, breathing techniques, oracles, verbal therapy, eco-art, and other expressive modalities tailored to your unique needs.

As a diversity-inclusive practitioner, I collaborate with you to ensure the therapy reflects your circumstances and experiences, regardless of ethnicity, gender, sexuality, age, or disability. My integrative approach focuses on empowering you to think critically and creatively about your challenges, guiding you in discovering your own solutions. Together, we can work towards restoring your dignity and agency while navigating the barriers life presents.

  • Therapy and Mentoring

I welcome clients who wish to blend both therapy and mentoring in our sessions. This integrative approach allows us to talk through feelings and explore challenges while utilising expressive modalities to encourage creativity and self-discovery. Together, we can create and make things that resonate with your experiences, enhancing your understanding and expression of emotions.

I embrace autistic stimming, fidgeting, and movement during our time together. You will not be judged or analysed for these behaviours; instead, I believe they can play a vital role in the therapeutic process. As a practitioner, I also engage in stimming and physical movement to cultivate an open and relaxed environment. Our sessions are designed to be supportive and affirming, allowing you to express yourself freely.

More about Art Psychotherapy.

What is Art Therapy?

Art therapy is a form of expressive therapy that utilises the creative process of making art to improve and enhance physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The therapeutic process is not about the quality of the artwork, but rather about the exploration of feelings, thoughts, and experiences through creative expression.

Why is Art Therapy Important?

  • Self-Expression: Art therapy provides a non-verbal outlet for individuals who may struggle to articulate their feelings and experiences.

  • Emotional Regulation: Engaging in creative activities can help clients process emotions, manage anxiety, and cope with trauma.

  • Builds Self-Esteem: Creating art fosters a sense of accomplishment and self-worth, particularly for individuals who may have faced marginalisation.

  • Therapeutic Connection: Art can serve as a bridge in the therapeutic relationship, facilitating discussions and insights that may not arise through traditional talk therapy.

Progressive Therapy Approaches

  • Rituals: I incorporate meaningful rituals that cultivate connection and reflection. These can include personal rituals tailored to individual needs, group rituals for community building, and ceremonies that mark significant transitions or healing moments.

  • Oracles: By using oracle cards, individuals can explore their intuitions and receive guidance, tapping into their subconscious to unveil insights related to their emotional and spiritual journeys.

  • Jungian Concepts: My work is deeply influenced by Jungian psychology, focusing on archetypes, symbols, and the unconscious mind. By identifying and understanding these elements, clients can embark on transformative self-discovery and empowerment.

Tailored Sessions for All Ages

I offer art therapy sessions for children, young people, adults, and families, each designed to cater to specific developmental needs and therapeutic goals. My inclusive approach ensures that every individual feels seen, heard, and celebrated.
